Lovely Margays

"The Margay (Leopardus wiedii) is a spotted cat native to Middle and South America. It is a solitary and nocturnal animal that prefers remote sections of the rainforest. It roams the rainforests from Mexico to Argentina." Hell yeah it does.

A-Z

I'm keepin' on keepin' on with my A-Z of animals project / zine / whatever. Here is J and K.

Melancholy Cats

Let today go down as the day I discovered the 'Screen' layer option in Photoshop. Here is a picture of a cat.

Edinburgh Portraits

Here are a couple of portraits I did on the train back from Edinburgh where I'd been for an "Applicant Day" (apparently they weren't allowed to use the word interview?). These two were for this Illustration Rally brief. I've done a Björk one as well but it's not finished!

...and some more that weren't done on a train. As you can probably tell, I've been going a bit mad with portraits over the last day or two.

Typical Girls Zine

I occasionally organise gigs and DJ under the name Typical Girls with the aim of supporting female musicians and bands. I was inspired by the most excellent and amazing Atta Girl in Birmingham, as well as growing up listening to lots of female musicians and discovering riot grrrl in my early teens.
Since I haven't put as many gigs on recently as I would have liked to, I've decided to start another illustration zine which will include portraits of some of the amazing, subversive women who've inspired me most over the years. Rad.

King of the Sea

Playing around with Photoshop and tentatively stepping away from using just solid black outlines on things...

More People Drawing

I've known Liz since I was about six, so i thought she wouldn't mind if I had a go at drawing her! (Yes, she is drinking beer through a straw.)

Vivian Girls

I needed to do some people-drawing practice and since I've been totally in love with Vivian Girls' new album (and rediscovering all their old albums!) lately I thought they would make good candidates.

Lovely Squids

It's true, I do! They are the queens of the sea indeed.
